    Dear Dr Simington

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your book Journey to the Sacred. As I read it, it feels as though my own thoughts poured forth from your pen. My own traumas shook me to the core, and while the traumas themselves were devastating, nothing could compare to the loss of faith I suffered as a result. It has taken me a number of years to find my footing again, and nothing looks the same from where I now stand. Life is bigger, “God” is bigger.

Thank you for addressing so succinctly the many issues I have grappled with these last years. I could not confide in my church friends, who would only tell me to have more faith. I could not confide fully in my dear mother, as close as we are, because she would worry for my soul. It has been a hard and lonely road, with libraries & book stores my only allies at times – and even then, occasionally the books were snuck home and carefully hidden in my underwear drawer, lest the Salvation Police find out what I was exploring!

I have since become a student of metaphysics, recently obtaining my M. Msc. and becoming an ordained metaphysical minister. My greatest desire is to let others know that they are not alone in their grief, confusion, and transitions; that it is part of our journey as humans and as women. I want to learn and grow and share until this body is no more. I want to spend all that I have been given to help others as a fellow soul pilgrim.

Thank you again for sharing, you have touched me deeply. I would love to meet you one day.

In humble gratitude,

Rev. Janice Selbie, M. Msc
